Henry County Summer 2018 Highlights

This summer has been a tremendous season for Henry County and I am so honored that I have the privilege to represent this group of people. I continue to be amazed at how many talented, hardworking, and caring individuals are working together to help build a bigger and brighter future for Henry County. Below are some of my favorite summer highlights for Henry County.

  • Henry Teacher Earns PAGE Foundation Award: Locust Grove Elementary School teacher Michele Kuykendall has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Jack Christmas Graduate Scholarship. The award is given annually through the PAGE Foundation and is awarded to an outstanding PAGE member who is pursuing an advanced degree in elementary education or reading. Education is one of the top priorities of Henry County. That is why it is so important for us to honor those who are not only educating others, but are working towards their own education as well.

  • Henry County Launching Citizen’s Academy: Henry County is launching a Citizen’s Academy in order to help residents understand how their county government works. This exciting and informative  eight-week program will begin on September 13th and will focus on areas such as financial services, public works, safety and the court system. The meetings are free to the public, but are limited to those who are 18 and older.

  • McDonough Police Donates Vehicles to Smaller Cities: The police chiefs of three small cities traveled to Henry County in early August to thank the McDonough City Council and McDonough Police Chief, Preston Dorsey, for their donation of police vehicles. The police departments of Molena, Zebulon and Warm Springs each received cars to be used by their officers. I am proud to be a part of a county that so willingly uses its resources to help others.
